CEREC Same-Day Restorations
CEREC is an in-practice system that designs and mills a crown, veneer or onlay while you wait, so there's no temporary restoration and no second visit for fitting. We're one of a small number of CEREC providers in the Midlands.
What it is and who it's for
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a chairside system that scans, designs and mills a bespoke ceramic crown, veneer or onlay while you wait, instead of sending an impression to an outside laboratory. It suits anyone needing a restoration who would rather have it finished in one visit than return for a fitting.
How treatment works
-
Consultation
We examine your teeth, discuss what you want to change, and explain the CEREC process in detail so you know what to expect.
-
Preparation
A small amount of enamel is removed from the front surface of the tooth to make room for the restoration.
-

Common questions
What is CEREC?
CEREC combines a camera, computer and milling instrument in one machine, so a crown, veneer or onlay can be designed and made chairside in a single visit, rather than sent to a lab over several weeks.
What can CEREC treat?
CEREC restorations are used for crowns, veneers and onlays, whether a tooth needs strengthening after decay or damage, or you want a cosmetic change to its shape or shade.
What is a CEREC crown?
A crown is a cap that covers your whole tooth, restoring its shape, size and strength. It’s often needed to strengthen a decaying or cracked tooth, restore a broken tooth, support a tooth with a large filling, or as the final step after a root canal.
What is a CEREC veneer?
A veneer is a thin, custom-made shell that covers the front surface of your tooth, used mainly for cosmetic changes such as discolouration, chips or an irregular shape.
What is a CEREC onlay?
An onlay, sometimes called a partial crown, covers one or more of the cusps on your tooth’s biting surface. It’s the option when a tooth is too damaged to support a filling but not damaged enough to need a full crown.
Is CEREC widely used?
The CEREC system has been in use for almost 30 years, with more than 30 million restorations produced worldwide. We are one of only a small number of CEREC providers in the Midlands.
