Frequently asked questions
Below are the questions our practices are asked most often, grouped by topic: costs and membership, booking, treatments, nervous patients, and practical visit information. Every answer here reflects what we actually offer; where a detail is still being confirmed, we say so rather than guess.

Costs & membership
Do you offer payment or finance options for your treatments?
We offer a dental membership plan to help you get the regular care you need at a predictable cost, with a discount on further treatment. See our Membership & Pricing page for current plan details; exact fees are confirmed there and at consultation.
Is there a charge for my first visit?
If you’re considering Invisalign or dental implants, we offer a free consultation, secured with a small deposit. For any other treatment, your first visit is a full new-patient exam, and the fee is confirmed when you book.
Do you offer a dental membership plan?
Yes. Our plans are designed for patients who attend regularly and want peace of mind that preventive care is covered, including regular exams, oral cancer screening, hygiene visits, necessary small X-rays and a discount on further treatment.
Appointments & booking
How do I book an appointment?
Start on our Book page and choose your practice. Where online booking is open you can pick your appointment there and then; where it isn’t, the page gives you the practice’s number and the team will find a time that suits you. Our Areas We Serve pages carry each practice’s number and opening hours too.
Do you see dental emergencies?
Yes. Call your practice and we’ll get you seen as quickly as possible. An emergency appointment includes an X-ray and a temporary filling if needed, plus pain relief, and the exact fee is confirmed when you call.
Are your practices wheelchair accessible?
Ashby, Higham Ferrers and Rugby are wheelchair accessible, including car park and entrance. Earls Barton and Scraptoft/Leicester access details are being confirmed. Call ahead and we’ll make sure your visit is as straightforward as possible.
Where are your practices based?
We have five practices across the Midlands: Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Earls Barton, Higham Ferrers, Scraptoft/Leicester and Rugby. See our Areas We Serve pages for the address, phone number and opening hours of each one.
Treatments
Will my treatment be painful?
Most routine treatment involves little to no discomfort. A local anaesthetic is used wherever it’s needed, including for fillings and root canal treatment, and your dentist will always talk you through what to expect before starting.
How do I know which treatment is right for me?
Your dentist examines your teeth and discusses your goals at consultation, then sets out the options available to you with their pros and cons, so you can make an informed decision before anything is booked.
Can I whiten my teeth if I have crowns or veneers?
You can, but whitening only affects your natural teeth, not restorations, so a difference in colour is possible. We generally recommend whitening before crowns or veneers are fitted, so they can be matched to your whitened teeth.
Nervous patients
I’m nervous about visiting the dentist. Can you help?
Yes. Dental anxiety is very common and something our teams work with every day. We’ll make sure you’re comfortable at every stage, explain what’s happening as we go, and never rush you. See our Nervous Patients page for more.
Do you offer sedation?
For some procedures, such as dental implant surgery, we can offer sedation given orally or by injection, as a calmer alternative to a general anaesthetic. Suitability is discussed with your dentist at consultation.
Practical
How often should I have a dental check-up?
We recommend a check-up every 6–12 months. Regular check-ups help us keep on top of your oral health, detect problems at the earliest signs, and treat them before they become more serious.
How often should I have a hygiene appointment?
Much like a check-up, a hygiene appointment every 6–12 months helps maintain optimal teeth and gum health, clears plaque and bacteria build-up, and reduces the risk of tooth decay and gum infection.
What happens at a hygiene appointment?
Our hygienist assesses your gum health and checks for plaque build-up and early signs of gum disease, then carries out a thorough clean and scale, finishing with a polish so you leave with a fresh, clean mouth.
